- Some key things I have learned while writing my short I-Search and "they-say-I-say" is how to annotate and find main points in an article as well as the proper way to search for certain information that i need for my I-Search paper. I have also learned the correct MLA format when typing a paper and how to cite a resource while doing research.
- This relates to things I already know because of how I have developed as a writer and all of the techniques I have been taught to where I am now show that I have improved tremendously and still have a lot of room to grow.
- I can apply all the key things that I have learned in this class just about on all of my peices because everything that I have been taught can apply to any writing that I have in the future but espically on the short and long I-Search papers and articles that I have to write about in "they-say-I-say."
- Yes, I can apply what I have learned in this unit to aspects of life outside the classroom by simple projects. For instance, building a tree house. I will have to collect data from different resources and begin with what I know, then find out everything I need to know, then put everything all together and apply my skills and build a tree house.
- A high point of this writing is that I came into this class not knowing the correct MLA format and other helpful tips that helped me develope as a writer. Now knowing all the correct formats and how to annotate restate your sources information in your own words have strongly improved my overall skills in writing a paper.
- The low point of this writing would have to be my research skills in the short I-Search paper. Not knowing the correct and true sources to get information from can really impact your paper negatively and hurt your score. So having learned these skills have helped me tremendously.
- Some obstacles that i have encountered while writing these pieces have been learing the correct ways to cite my information without plagarising. Another obstacle is knowing the correct information to search and how useful this information really is.
- A strategy I used to overcome these obstacles was meeting with an instrctor from the writing center and having them help me with the correct ways to go about searching for a certain piece of information and not plagarising.
- Some things that I have learned about myself as a writer would have to be that I am not the best writer in the world but if I put my mind to it I can overcome alot of obstacles and influence the reader with my writing by telling them everything I possibly know about a certain topic and doing research on that topic to make my point even more clear. My major learning style prefrence would most likely have to be seeing and useing my hands in order to get a good perspective of what it is that I have to do. I would have to say that my best time and place to study would have to be at home in my room secluded because I seem to think better when I am by myself and if I ever need help I can just call up one of my buddies and ask them some questions. With me it is very hard to balance my studies with all of my other responsibilities and commitments because now that I play football for WKU, it takes up just about all of my time and leaves me sore and tired which makes it hard for me to focus alot of times, and I do most of my study hours after practice which leads me to stay up late during hours of the night and impacts how much rest I get every night.
